What are the dimensions of a 40 yard dumpster?
About 22 to 24 feet long, 8 feet wide and 8 feet tall, holding 40 cubic yards. The height is the defining feature and the main trade off: it holds enormous volume, and everything has to go up over an 8 foot wall or in through the rear swing door. That is fine for a crew with a loader and awkward for two people with wheelbarrows. Where the load is heavy rather than bulky, drop to a 10 yard dumpster, and for a middle sized job the 20 yard or 30 yard is usually the better answer. What fits in a 40 yard container?
Roughly twelve pickup loads. In practice that is a whole commercial strip out, a large roof tear off, a full building clearance, or the framing and packaging waste from a substantial construction dumpster rental job. Light bulky material is exactly right: cardboard, insulation, timber offcuts, ducting, shelving, furniture. What it is not for is concrete, brick, tile, soil or wet plaster, because the weight allowance runs out long before the box looks full, and the excess bills by the ton. What cannot go in it?
The usual exclusions, and they matter more on a big load because a single item can turn one haul into two. Hazardous waste, solvents, liquid paint, motor oil, fuel, batteries, tyres, asbestos, medical waste and any appliance containing refrigerant are all refused at the transfer station, as is anything burning or smouldering. What does delivery need on site?
Real space. A roll-off truck needs about 60 feet of straight clearance behind it to slide a container off, and a 40 yard box is at the long end of that. Overhead clearance must be free of branches and cables, and the ground has to be firm enough to take a loaded container, which on a wet Elizabeth site is not a given. Do you need a permit in Elizabeth?

What else lands on the same order?
On a commercial site, the rest of it. Crews need a standard porta potty rental sized under OSHA 1926.51(c), which sets one facility for up to 20 workers and one seat and one urinal per 40 above that, and one seat and one urinal per 50 past 200. Where paints, coatings, herbicides or insecticides are handled, OSHA 1926.51(f)(1) requires washing facilities, and 29 CFR 1910.141(d)(2) specifies soap and either towels or a dryer, so add a handwashing station or a portable sink. Do not. Inert material will hit the tonnage allowance at a fraction of the volume and the excess bills by the ton. Use a 10 yard container for concrete, brick and soil.
